Puppy Evaluations
Puppy Evaluations are the effort that Fetching Puppies Co. makes to complete our time with the puppies. Following the evaluations, each puppy has received vaccines from the vet as well as a health check. They have also been evaluated via a personality assessment. We do have a number of videos on social media targeted at explaining this process.
We believe that a puppy should be chosen considering its personality traits, as well as its color and gender. Our assessment is our best attempt to assist our clients with describing what they can expect from their puppy’s personality.
It is important to note that these scores are based on a sliding 1-5 scale. They are merely a comparison of the puppies to their littermates. So a high prey-drive puppy from our kennel, would have a very low prey drive score compared to a working line of border collies from a different kennel.
As well, recognize that these puppies at 8 weeks of age will continue to grow and change throughout their lives, this is not in any way a guarantee for the future. Instead this is best understood as a snap shot of where the puppy is currently. A good owner pairing will continue to bring the best out of each dog, with a timid puppy gaining confidence through training and experience, and a high energy dog learning the appropriate scenarios in which to be excited.
We will primarily use this information when advising potential clients on our observations about the puppies. It is a lot of information to take in, but we did want to make sure it was available to everyone. As well, we have recorded most of the puppy’s evaluations, while we wont be posting these (most are close to 9 minutes long, and we have 15 puppies currently) should questions arise we can give interested clients access to parts of them.
As always, if you have any questions, we would love to answer them!
